Trying something new
« on: January 16, 2006, 03:53:46 AM »
Hi,

I am interested in hunting with a revolver.  I've been using a contender and want to try something new.  I have a early 90's model Ruger Super Blackhawk in 44 Mag. with 7 1/2 " barrel that i'm getting ready to send to SSK for a TSOB.  I was wondering what the effective range really is?  I will be hunting Whitetails at a maximum of 100 yards.  I was thinking of using the hornady 300 gr. XTP.  Is that really nessary? Also,  I was thinking of getting the simmons 2-6 pistol scope.  It is really inexpensive and I was wondering if it will hold up the the recoil? Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,  Robert...
