'Was talking to a co-worker today and he told me about a shotgun that he has. It's a 20 ga. singleshot and it's entirely aluminum!
His father worked for Reynolds Aluminum in Richmod back in the '60's-70's in their R&D department. They attempted to build a shotgun entirely of aluminum as a possible market for their product. No, the barrel is not steel-sleeved, it's ALL aluminum, hard-coat anodized (except wood stock and, I imagine, springs) They had some 100 units built by a contractor and sent them for field testing. Results indicated that the experiment was a failure and it was dropped.
I told him that his gun might be a valuable, rare collector item. What think y'all?
