Handgun Belt for hunting
« on: January 17, 2006, 07:27:57 AM »
Whats a good one to where with a hip holster? I have read about the Wilderness instructor belt and it seems nice.Anyone use one?I wear camo bibs sometimes too and I don't have any belt loops.I have a uncle mike 15 dollar sidekick belt but its kinda stiff.I don't always like to put my handgun on the belt that holds my pants up either. So what are some of you using? Thanks! Bill :biggun:

Depends on what kind of gun you are talking about.

I use a 44mag Ruger Super Blackhawk (7" barrel) for hunting and use a low slung western belt I bought for $15 at a gun show.  Works great on pants, or bibs.  Also keeps the butt of the revolver low enough I can sling my rifle on that shoulder and they don't smack into each other.

I bought a thick, heavy, wide belst from a shop that sells work clothes and its just the cat's meow for carrying a revolver.

My all-time favorite rig for my Ruger 41, 6 1/2" was a Mexican loop holster with a "money belt" with cartridge loops from El Paso Saddlery. The money belt style is thinner leather, doubled lengthwise and sewed in order to make a place for things inside. It gives a lot more, and is very comfortable worn either low or high.

I don't like to hang my gun from my pants belt either, it pulls my britches down. I wear bibs a lot, too, and the wide, soft belt works great with them.

I use about a 2 inch wide synthetic belt, which makes it comfotable to carry whatever, revolver, speedloaders, shellcase, knife, all on there.  The thickeness holds everything in place very well, and makes it comfortable to wear over most anything.  It just clips together, making for easy on and off when you need it.  I forget who makes it...  but it's something to look for.
