Last topic for me at GBO
« on: January 17, 2006, 02:34:17 PM »
I have come to the long hard desicion that this will be the last topic for me to post at GBO. Here lately little cliques have been forming. Sides have been taken and with the side i have taken it is only a matter of time before i post my point of view and i am shunned by the moderators and Administrators. Certain people have alreay noticed this and have started visiting other forums loking for a new place to spend there time. Honestly, i don't blame them. It's hard to win when you are fighting against the system. So in this instance it's just easier to pick up and move. After a good friend was shunned i feel i probably will more than likely experience the same thing. I will admit i will miss quite a few of you but others i will not. This was a great place until the group got so large. Now there is so much nit-picking going on it's not worth the hassle. In time others will see what i am talking about. NEF and H&R will still be a part of my shooting life but this site will not. With this post i hereby resign from my moderator duties. I wish you all the best but don't look for me to return.

I am moving this back to the NEF Centerfire Forum at Drew's request even tho I personally think it would have been better placed on the forum he moderatred or the Pot Bellied Stove forum.

I will request that Mac and Tim and those on their side of this issue please refrain from posting anything on here that would incite as I'm sure they would anyway. That may not have come across as clearly as intended. What I meant it to say was I am sure that the both Mac and Tim and those folks who have been supportive of them would refrain from posting anything that might incite. I'm not as sure of the other side tho. Sorry guys the brain isn't functioning well today. I am way too sick to be posting really.

And I'm warning those on the other side of the issue I will tolerate NO posts that are intended to incite, inflame or create tension on this site.

I am somewhat reluctantly going to leave it open rather than locked but will be watching it closely.

Thanks GB for being willing to leave this open and I hope ALL see this as a good thing and no one posts anyhting inflammatory!!!

Drew/Varminter, I know you said you will not change your mind and you will not return, I also know you to be an intelligent person of a great number of years less than me. Please lallow this place remain in your memory as a good place full of good guys and perhaps a couple you may not have agreed with at some times.
Does that sound like some other place you know of? YES!!, that right, it's the world and our daily lives, and we all are in it together. I am hoping that at some time you WILL return realizing this is just a microcosim of the world we all live in. At some times we may agree and at others we may disagree or get upset, but that the way of the world. I have found from expeirence as you get older it gets easier and easier to take a step back and say, "I like it here and if someone else or another group wants to be difficult or think differently than I, so be it, I am here for me and the others here I like".  It's still a good place with many good guys and much to learn, I am here and I wish you were also. Best of luck in your search. I'll personally keep a light on and the door latch unlocked....<><....

Anytime you have a bunch of people gathered together no one is going to agree 100% of the time. I am a lurker here but I read the posts trying to pick up whatever knowlege i can glean from all the posters here on the forum. As MSP Retired said, as I get older I don't sweat the small stuff anymore, it's just not worth it. Every person has their own character, thats what makes the world go round. It would be a really dull place if we thought and acted alike. I guess what I am trying to say is there is room for everyone here so consider coming back.  :D

All I can say is that I certainly hope you change your mind Drew. I always liked reading your posts and added info was of great help to me when I first came here. I have been wondering where you have been as of late. I think all of us are tired of bickering and are happy that the forum is getting back to talking about Handis instead of personal issues.
  Here's hopeing you reconsider  :toast:

It would sure be nice if all of this would just go away and the members here would stop picking sides. A forum like this is supposed to be a fun thing as well as a place to learn and get good information on a topic that we all love. Please stop, back up, take a deep breath and see if we can get back to where we were. I have not always agreeed with some of the post here but I feel that every one has their right to an opinion. I don't post much but I do like to read and learn.

I am inclined to agree with Varminter and others about the "stuff" being hurled back and forth.  Aren't we all on the same side???  The last few weeks here have been tough to watch.
It's the Internet after all.  Don't take it too seriously.
Some folks need to get away from the idiot box and go shoot something.

Since Varminter kicked open the door, I'm right behind him.

Darn?!
You all [prn'cd. "yawl"] come on now.  Man I been in the jungle at night and up jungle rivers with the dang place full of little brown guys with black pajamas, AKs, and bayonets who wanted to kill me just for bein' there.  Since that time I "ain't took nothin' serious no more", life is too darned short. !Hey! "Quick", MSP Ret, ?"StimplyU"?, GBO and the rest of "yawl" I can actually talk with folks that I would almost think that I had known all of my life, man that's comfortable and it feels really good.  Me and "Topper T" is brothers, family,we talk with each other a lot because this forum is kinda' hard not to have.  So come on now keep your ranks dressed off to the "right"; keep your files dressed fore and aft and everythings gonna' be all right, "daijobu desca" [Japanese talk for "Okay"]
There's only one thing better'n a gun and that's more guns, and the only thing better'n more guns is "lotsa' guns".  And what's best about that is the folks you can talk to and exchange scuttlebutt about what's new, what's hot and what's not.

I feel like I'm back in grasde school again, all this talk about 'choosing sides' and I ain't been picked yet.    :x

Seriously folks, some of you all realy need to lighten up a little or grow thicker skins.  My oppinion has differed with others here from time to time but it's nothing worth getting my shorts all wadded up about. I just keep mental note of who has the real scoop and who is just shoveling poop. If we run home to our mammas who is realy lossing out... nomero uno or the other 2000 or so members of the forum ?

Cryin in our beer only waters down our beer, lets move on already.  Zeke had a good idea.. let's get out and shoot something then we'll have something constructive to talk about instead of all this grade school whining about what someone else said or did to me.

PS.
Why did he do all the long winded explanation and feel sory for himself instead of just go and say goodby.

Stopped by to see if Mac and Quick had decided to leave and what do I see but more of the same junk when someone who decides they have had enough and has been here for awhile gets the same treatment from a person who says if you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen??? Little wonder that this forum has had the troubles it has seen here recently. A request was made that this topic not be used to flame or criticize and there you go again with same crud. And everyone wonders what is wrong here??? I really enjoyed this forum until it changed to what it is now. For those of you who have caused this trouble, you should be ashamed of yourselves. A true brotherhood has no place for egos, just honest and courteous discussions of what this forum was all about.

When can we talk about handi rifles ?? Why is this being drug  on and on and on and on and on?  I thought this was over, we are now picking sides? No thanks, there are a lot of good people here and I am sure there is at the other place you speak so highly of . So what if people disagree, and there may be some ribbing. As long as its respectful. If its not they get what they deserve. I know things got heated here, but I thought the ones involved said there sorry s and shook hands. Good grief why do some feel we need to relive this. ( kinda like going and peeing on the electric fence every day ...uhmmm yep it still burns ouch ouch ouch) . You know guys and gals, we need to stick together for the sake of our rights, shooting sports and  heritage if nothing else. Lets move on please.

Indeed. I'm tired of this thread as well as the other one. So I'm locking it now.

I'm even more sick of the childish behavior of a very few who are spoiling it all for the majority. I'm real close to putting together a long post on my feelings on the problems here and my solution. I'm tired of the time this one forum is taking of me and very soon it's not going to be doing so one way or another. I'm thinking less than 15-20 member deletions will cure it and leave the forum for those who really want it. I'm sure those few will find a warm home at AR where the rest of the folks I've kicked off have gathered.
