have a 70-p that when you chambre the rnd sometimes it will fire and other times just click if you recock it put back in the same rnd it will fire could this be a bad fireing pin ,weak hammer spring, both look to be good but would like your in-put ---thanks tom

dunno on this one. it might be worth sending it to a gunsmith or back to marlin.

This sounds like the firing pin has some rust or corrosion on it.This happens to the model 60 which has the same bolt.If you remove the bolt,the firing pin should just flop back and forth.If not you will need to punch out the retaining pin holding the firing pin in.Then you will need to scrape out any gunk in the firing pin groove on the bolt.Check the pin fot straitness and if it is bent lay it on a flat surface and tap with hammer to flatten.lube the pin with some light oil such as Kroil or Remoil and put back together.
