32 mag, 32/20 question
« on: January 19, 2006, 11:13:11 AM »
Who has the 32/20, 32 mag combo??  Why did you choose it, what do you use it for??  Target only?  Do you hunt with it, and if so, what??

I have been thinking of picking up a F.A. in that caliber, but I cannot figure out what niche it would fill.  I hunt big game(Deer) and it could not be used for that.  I also do some small game/predator hunting and thought it would be good for that.  It is too powerful to use as a dispatch gun for my trapline though.  I do go to the range for enjoyment and practice but I do not do any kind of competition.

This will be my first F.A. as I am a S&W fan(I do have a .32 S&W, and reload for it.)  I have NO need for another gun as I have all the calibers I need covered(.22, .22WMR, .32 H&R mag, .357, .44)  I would NOT like to get anything bigger than a .44 mag as I drink too much coffee and can be a touch recoil sensitive.  This will be my first single action firearm.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

Spencer

Most of us have past NEED a long time ago.  The .32 mag is a good gun for small game hunting.  I use mine for rabbit, squirrel, aramdillo, etc.  By reloading, you can make a good dispatching firearm for your trapline.  The .32 Long dies may be used to reload the .32 mag.

I have the Lee reloader and reload for the .32 right now, Your right, it is a great small game round.  I know nothing about the 32/20.  is it a straight wall cartridge??  Can it be stoked more than the .32??  If I buy a F.A. in .32, .32/20 will I be able to sell it and at least get my money out of it??  or is it better ot buy something a little more popular.  I am not buying this with the idea of selling it, but If hard times knock, I at least want to know I will be able to resell it and recoup some costs..

Thanks

The .32-20 is a bottleneck cartridge, an old one to be exact.  Look in any reloading manual and you should find some information on it.  Don't see why you would have a hard time turning the FA if need be.
