Can I get a 38-55 barrel for my 243 handi? Would I have to buy a new forend? Sorry for the dumb question, but the web site is not real clear on this.

I would call them. However the "snippy" lady that always seems to answer when I call says any rifle barrel can be installed to any SB2 frame as long as your s/n starts with N or H. I would say judging by the pics of the BC model you need a new forearm.

only way to know for sure is to give them a call, I believe there is a phone number in the FAQ.  I don't see why not, I put a BC 45-70 on my 270 frame and I believe all modern 243s are the high pressure frames.  Hope this helps.

You dont need another forend. I have one and just shot it for the first time yesterday! Lots of fun! Hand loads of 777 and 255grain cast .379 bullets. I'v learned I realy dont care to much for the 777 in any gun. But have to shoot it up, besides that the gun  shot well! I think I can step up to a .38 diameter in my gun and maybe a .381 even better. This seems to be one barrel you will have to do your home work with?
