Ballistic tip .45's?

Has anyone heard of any bullet like this that works for a Contender? Seems to me that a pointed .45 bullet would work excellent in a single shot firearm. Maybe even a boat-tail, but I dont know if that would be necessary.

I have not heard of any,but Northern Precision (315)593-1711 or (315)493-1711 may have something.I hear they make 444 bullets that are pointed.

The velocity in the 45/70 contender is so low that uping the ballistic coefficient of the bullet makes little practical difference. Within the practical range of the contender, 150 yds. with a maximum of 250 yds. there is little to be gained. The flat nose on most 45/70 bullets, will deliver shock the moment it contacts an animal, a pointed bullet would need a little time to expand. If for some reason you wanted to shoot beyond 300 yds there might be an advantage with a higher ballistic coefficient, but the 45/70 contender is a short range power house. If you want to shoot long range get a caliber that is designed for that purpose, like the 7/30 Waters or the 6.5 JDJ. Barnes makes a pointed bullet for the 45/70.
