A Bit Of Snow

Looks like daveinthebush is getting a bit of snow.  It's even snowing here in North Pole, but not like in Valdez it looks like.

Just a flurry or two

Just a flurry or two actually.  We recieved 17" on Friday night.  Just a tad on Sat.  It is snowing now but looks light.  We are actually behind our yearly average of 500".  We are probably only at 7 feet for the year. It hardlt snowed at all from the beginning of Dec. till now.

The snow on the roof really helped insulate the roof.  Just putting one log in at a time in the wood stove and it is 80 in here. :coffee:

I hate cold more than satan hates holy water but I wish we would get a good freeze down here for the mosquitos and weeds.

I expect to see a mosquito by mid-April and maybe a weed or two whenever my yard starts greenin' up......maybe end of May.  Of course May, June & July more than make up for the lack of mosquito's the rest of the year!

A good 12 gauge with #12 low base shot usually puts a mosquito down.  Sometimes a double hit is required but #12 shot is safer around homes.

It is really diffucult not thinking about putting the boat in the water.  Two months!

I will admit that, from the tales told, AK has big and numerous mosquitos. That said I have not stopped slapping mine all year--well, this year.
This is not a subject, I think, that anyone wishes to have the biggest and best of.
Dadgum skeeters.
There is hope that we may get a skeeter killer this weekend. Maybe our winter will be 2/11 between 4 and 7 AM.
I'm hopin.

williamlayton, West Texas is one of the places on my short list of possible retirement places.  I did a bunch of work with the NASA Crustal Dynamics Project at MacDonald Observatory in Jeff Davis County and really came to like the area from there all the way down to Big Bend.  I don't recall seeing too many skeeters out that way.....now if they could only get rid of the rattlesnakes!

Been wet in Seward, saw quite a few skeeters in december still.
