Primers for .454 Casull?????????????
« on: March 15, 2003, 01:11:46 PM »
I have been using Rem. 7 1/2 Bench Rest Small Rifle primers for years in my F.A. revolver. I now see that current loading manuals list Winchester and CCI standard small rifle primers. Am I wasting money using Rem. 7 1/2 primers and can I switch to Winchesters without a problem? Thanks - J.Solo

I have used CCi 400s and 450s as well as the Rem 7 1/2s.  All have worked well for me.  Freedom Arms data calls for the Rem primers.

brass, with steel shim inserts to small rifle primers, the 7 1/2 Remington was the hardest, followed by the Fed 205. I was flowing large rifle primers, and Dick sent me some experimental at the time small rifle converion inserts.
