"Laminated steel" is another name for damascus twist, which really isn't safe to shoot with smokeless, and is rather suspect with BP. What happens is rust accumulates between the wraps and weakens the steel and a burst barrel is very likely. A lot of the Belgian SXS's were imported at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, these were of poorer quality, and today sell for about $100.00 for a really clean specimen. If you intend to shoot it, first have it checked out by a competent gunsmith, probably cost ya about $20.00 or so. Generally they make nice wall hangers. I got this info from the American Rifleman. I've seen a number of 'em in pawn shops and they are neat looking, guess they served a purpose in the early 1900's. RR:D
