Need good stock/recoil pad
« on: January 22, 2006, 05:54:17 AM »
I have an Encore with 375 JDJ barrel. Was out shooting it yesterday with Lyman bullet 379449, this is a cast bullet of 265 grains. Using JD's data for 4895 and the Hornady 270 grain SP, I started with 44 grains and got the snot kicked outta me. Not even interested in moving up, and can't imagine this case in a pistol. WOW!

I have the synthetic stocks, and had put 2 pounds of wheel weight ingots into the butt stock prior to shooting, but even that is not enough to tame this thing. I don't expect 0 recoil, but this is way more than I'm interested in.

I think the thing needs a better stock and or recoil pad design. anyone out there got suggestions?
