well, if i could only have one barrel for a encore or contender, it would be a 6mm. they are so versatile and you can do almost anything with it. except of course REALLY BIG game.
contender- 6tcu,6x45,or 6x47
encore- 6br

i like them all, and would like to have a lot more than i have now. they are all great. just a few i'd really like to have.
7-30 waters, 30-30 Ackley improved, 17hmr, 22lr match, 44mag, .357 max, .300 whisper
or for the encore, 444 marlin, .358 winchester, .243 win

 i can't do this, there are just too many good calibers. my 15" 7mm-08 is a wonderful caliber. can't be without it either
  oh i guess they are all my favorite

PJ,
My favorate is the 7-30 Waters I got from you in a trade.  Also I am shooting a lot of 162's and 175's.  Best groups I have got so far are using the 175 gr.  Haven't tried the 120's yet

If I had to choose one, it'd be the .375JDJ.  Accuracy enough for the small game and power enough to take on anything big enough to die.

I am mainly a Varmint Hunter, so my choices may seem a little different. First choice would have to be a 6mm. Currently have a 15" Stainless VVCG 6mm T/CU that is a pure treasure. This one is wonderfully accurate, easy to load for, and mild to shoot. Bullets available run from 55gr. numbers to 85grs. (at least in my 1 in 12" twist barrel), and can be used for both Varmints and Whitetail Deer.

Second on the list would have to be a Super 14 in .223 Remington. Like the 6mm T/CU, the .223's I have had have been quite accurate, easy to load for, and mild to shoot. Bullet performance has bee great, provided I pick the right bullet for the task at hand.

Either of these in a Prairie Dog Town are pure destruction on the little critters. I have managed to go on several Prairie Dog Shoots with Handguns. Nope it is not always easy making hits on these little critters way out younder. But then if it was too easy it wouldn't be so enjoyable.

My 13" .30 Bellm, only because it's got the most retained energy that I can use legally in Illinois for deer (edges the 300 whisper by a...whisper, okay sorry that was punny   ). Gonna try it on coyotes later this spring. And man does it shoot! Great accuracy. A little pricey to shoot right now 'cause I haven't started reloading for it, but with CNC ammo it shoots under MOA all day long.

12" .375 Win. -Accurate, hits hard, great bullets, easy to load and good balance. It will take anything that you can take with a handgun and is not overly obnoxious with recoil and power to spare.

Out of 9 calibers to choose from, the 14" .223  :-D would have to ba favorite to shoot and hard to beat for accuracy.  The 375JDJ   is the most awesome and you gotta love the power.  Have a 6.5JDJ coming and will see where it ranks.

In a 10" barrel- 357Max
