I had a friend who used to live in Mississippi about 100 yards from the Gulf who allowed that anyone who lived north of him was a damn yankee!   66% Dixie. Born and raised in Indiana but my heart and head are southern. Raised with a bunch of ex coal miner's kids and used to get funny looks from my students when I "went southern" on them. Pass the grits, bisquits, and pecan pie.

Funny, born and raised in Tx. Get h3ll all the time about my accent and redneck ways. I scored 74%. Kind of disappointing.

People living here about 40 miles from the Coast of Mississippi often say anybody from north of Tupelo is a Yankee.
