It has been a long time since Ive looked at the prices, but I think I ran across a decent deal - for a change. Two very lightly used model 77/22 All Weathers, one in .22 mag, the other in .22 lr. The Maggie wears a Leupold 2X7 Rimfire Special, the LR is topped with a fixed four Leupold Rimfire Special. $1025 OTD for the lot. Long story short, after selling off some old dive gear, the rifles followed me home.
I havent shot the LR much yet, but I have spent some time with the mag. Im pleasantly surprised, especially for a round that I have never considered inherently accurate. A red squirrel got it in the eye at 70 yards today.
My only complaint - of course, the trigger. It is heavy. I have a couple of M77 centerfires that I put Timney triggers in and have been very happy with them. I see that Midway has Timney triggers for the 77/22 (943-284) for $35. Is this the best/easiest route to go with the 77/22? Any advice is appreciated.
