Soooo...at the risk of sounding foolish.....
« on: January 24, 2006, 02:13:41 PM »
Hi All,

I'm just wondering.  I have a BDL SS in .375HH.  It has a black, tupperware stock (I think).  Folks are always writing on this board and in others that they are crap and should be replaced.

BUT...I don't ever remember reading why or what failures they have had.  It certainly looks and feels different than my KS mountain rifle (a custom shop mcmillen stock) and my 700 LSFS which has a pillar bedded stock (I don't know whose it is).

The damn thing fits me quite well and looks as good as any other black, synthetic stock I've had or currently have (a brown precision stock on a cusom Ruger).

Really...do I need to replace it????

Doug

No, you don't need to replace it.  I have one too and it fits really well, its just it isn't the best looking.  If I had the money I might get a nicer fiberglass one, but the one on it served me fine.  I seem to fit into remingtons real well and it makes the recoil seem really light compared to other rifles.  My remington is in 300 mag and it is more comfortable to shoot then my savage in 308.  If it's working go with it, no point in changing what works.
If guns kill people, then I can blame misspelled words on my pencil.

I agree, if it's not broke, don't fix. HOWEVER if you do, go with the H.S. Precision.

I have a 700 ADL in this stock. It is kinda noisy (especially with metal swivels) but it is lightweight and it does the job for me. There was an article in F&S this month called "Stock Exchange" about some company that makes laminate stocks but they look like real wood...might wanna invest in one of those...awesome stocks 8)

Thanks JP,

I've filled the stock with expandable foam insulation and that has helped to quite it down some.  I'll just leave it alone.

Hi and thanks sniper

Yeah...I've kinda got a problem.  I need to travel a hell of alot for work so my recreational travel is somewhat limited sometimes.  So, I hunt exotics because I can fit a hell of a trip in a few days.  I could do a few days of whitetails, but, that won't do them any real justice and anyway...I like hunting exotics.

My TR is in my house, just finished it a few weeks ago and am still waiting for two more fallow shoulder mounts.

Thank you very much for noticing!

Good hunting, good shooting!
