Nothing Today
« on: January 24, 2006, 02:45:04 PM »
Well I didn't catch anything today, but I did catch a muskrat yesterday at a pond that I have 8 110s and one 1 1/2" Coilspring waiting for the mink to come back by. I found his tracks all around the pond this saturday when it snowed and took advantage of it. Don't think hes been back to the pond yet, but he'll be there eventually. I haven't caught nothing in the two pocket sets I have setting for coon on the creek right now. I was catching at least one or two coons a week there for awhile in them two pocket sets and I haven't caught anything there for awhile maybe two weeks. Nothings even took my bait, but coon tracks go right by the pockets. Maybe its time to move my traps farther down the creek?

I've caght a coon, a ringtail, a possum, and a skunk already this week.  I've found that after your traps have been set for 3-4 days, it helps to set them in a differant set real close to where they were.  I guess it kinda' arouses their curiosity again.

You may also want to consider a different bait or lure.If they walk right by,what you are using isn't working.

Thanks guys I have been using pink salmon and jack mackeral. But I think I have got some coon lure on the way. Today I moved all my coon sets down the creek farther and baited them with tuna. The only other kind of fish based food I could find in town. I'm hoping to have a coon or two in the morning.
