How much play permissable in Lyman T-mag turret head?
« on: March 16, 2003, 06:17:23 PM »
I just bought a used Lyman T-mag turret press (the older orange color one) and I have measured .040" radial play (side to side) and .035" up and down play in the turret head. Is this normal? Excessive? Comments would be appreciated. BTW-I measured this with a bench-mounted needle micrometer. Thanks.

Have you tried contacting Lyman?  I have a black T Mag but I don't have the equipment you do.  I try to adjust the rear support stem to minimize play and to my hand there seems to be little but I'd sure like to hear what you learn.  I can't detect any change in the accuracy of my loads compared to the old RCBS Jr I used to have.
