Today was a Contender barrel bonanza!
« on: January 25, 2006, 05:01:57 PM »
I walked into a gunshop shop today and was faced with an unreal find...
The manager had just traded in a large number of T/C Contender barrels.

I'd been looking for a .357 Maximum, .41 Magnum and .45 Colt barrel and when I saw the barrels figured...JACKPOT!

Well, yes and no.

Here's the list...all are octagonal...all but the 38 Special barrel are 10"

218 Bee
25-35 Win
357 Mag
256 WM
221 Rem
222 Rem
5 mm
44 Mag
22 Jet
30 M1 (can't wait to try this one)
45 ACP
22 WMR
22 LR
38 Spec (8 3/4")

He made me a deal I couldn't pass on if I took them all...so I did.
I figure I can trade a few off and keep the one's I like.

Fortunately, the previous owner took very good care of the barrels so they are in great condition.  A couple fore-ends, a grip and a case were also thrown in to the mix

Of course, none of the three barrels I was looking for were in the bunch!

My Contender collection went from 4 barrels to 18 in a single day.

I'm new to the forum, I imagine I'll have a few questions when the dust settles.  Thanks in advance.

If you want to get rid of the 256 or 25-35 can I have first dibs?

Wow, great collection.... :P

Good score on the barrels, I know you probably don't want to tell us how much you gave(in case your Wife might watch this Forum) but would you mind telling in the neighborhood of waht you gave?

I bought some for $100 and others for $150...plus 8% tax....not a "Killer Deal" but one I had to jump on because I picked up some barrels I "needed" and figured I could maybe trade some for other barrels I'd like to own...maybe sell a few others off and come out with a free barrel or two for my trouble.
