Encore barrel question
« on: January 26, 2006, 08:36:22 AM »
Thought I would ask here before I start calling T/C:  Don't know what it's called, but the 2 piece "lever" that is under spring tension at the back of the barrel--it's compressed when the barrel is closed--was laying loose with a barrel that I picked up yesterday.  I can get it into place and the barrel locks up OK, but this piece isn't being held in place upon opening the action, as my other barrels do.  Is there something simple to look at to fix this, or is it headed back to TC?

If I understand you right you mean they don't stay in the barrel block and come out when the barrel is not on the frame, if so then you are missing the retaining pin for the 'locking blocks.'  I think T/C will probably send you the pin. You probably can pick up one at hardware stores.

Its actually a very small roll pin. It may have sheared off also. You will need a very small punch to drive it out if its sheared. KN

Thanks, guys.  Took a look and the roll pin is there, and as I closely looked at the ends of the 2 pieces I have, they clearly have been broken.  It appears that it has taken quite a hit at some time and have both broken off flush with the barrel block.  Can see the ends of the 2 pins flush inside the block and even a little surface rust on them.  Think I may try to borrow from an older barrel so I can shoot this one now and call TC about perhaps sending replacements.
