weird problem but need help
« on: January 26, 2006, 11:24:31 AM »
I have a bow shooting problem:

when I aim at a target it seems like there is a force that keeps the bow just at the bottom of the target(what happens is I jerk to get it in the target which in turn puts the arrow where I dont want it to go)

Please help

It's a form of "target panic".
Spend some time shooting close to the target. I mean like 5 yards or closer. Just practice your form. Draw, settle in, obtain a good sight picture, and execute a clean release. Don't worry about groups or where they are hitting, just work on the "feel" of a good shot. May not even be a bad idea to take a turn or two off the limb bolts for a while also. :D

VERY common.   I think it was Mark Kayser (sic) that had an article about it in NAH mag. a couple months ago.  Had same advice as RCL reply.   He also said it affects him more when he shoots too much, so maybe back off the practice arrows a little.
