Remington Customer Service????
« on: January 26, 2006, 03:05:31 PM »
My sons were given Remington 710's a couple of years ago (good shooting rifles by the way) but............the magazine latch on one of them broke. I called Remington to buy a replacement and they WILL NOT sell me the part. They said I have to either send it in or take it to an authorized Remington repair center. WHAT A CROCK. I guess you can tell I am pretty aggravated. They have not won a customer here.

You think that's bad.  I just bought a brand new 597 that had maybe 50 shots fired.  Jammed from the start so I sent it back to Remington.  I just got it back after sending them $20 for a new clip.  Remington sold me a defective clip to start with and they had me buy another one to get the gun to shoot.  I'm going to sell it anyway because every Remington I've ever had was junk.  Almost all of them had to be sent back to shoot.  The only good one was an 870 Express and it has to be heavily oiled to keep from rusting and it has a defect.  The threading runs furthar down the barrel than the removable chokes will cover.  It is an obvious defect that I didn't know about at the time of purchase.  Remington wanted me to just pay for another barrel.  I use it as a loaner anyway so it didn't matter.  I wish Marlin would buy Remington out. I love American craftsmanship but Remington needs an overhaul and a quality control department.   I'm starting to hate Remington, too many stories like this from everyone I know who has bought a remington lately.

Well Sorry Guys. I will have to pat Remy on the back. Bought a new BDL 300rum. Would not stay on 4ftx8ft sheet of plywood at 100. Bullets were going in sideways. Now have brand new. Turned out the gun was made in 2001 and I bought in 2005. Barrel was badlly pitted. New gun was made 05of 06.
Most don't have good luck going straight to rem. I found that if I go thru a rem rep ( I use and recomend Paducah Shooters in Ky) results are much better. These guys are very good to work with and know how to handle rem. My gun was only gone for about 24 days total, which I feel is not a bad turnaround going from NC to Ky to NY back to Ky and back to NC.
Even threw in a trigger job for my trouble.

PS- The only thing that I didn't get that I asked for was a NEW SENDERO as a replacement. LOL !!!!!

LOL, If you got that for your troubles, Id start making it so that my Rems have troubles just to get a Sendero  :)

I dont know anyone in my family that has ever had to contact Remington about any problems, not 2 shabby considering that there are atleast 40 - 50 different models scattered amongst our safes. I pray that streak never ends :)

I had the saftey detent ball on my trigger come out.
I called Remington and got the same answer, they would not sell me a tiny steel ball that does not require any tools to replace
So off to the hardware store I went, she is just like new now
I like T/C service, They sent me all new trigger parts for free after I told them it was someone else did a bad trigger job  8)

Try numerich (Spelling I'm not sure of) gun parts.  They will have anything you need.  I ordered a dust cover for my former  742 from them.  I bought a pack of 12 for less than I could buy one from ebay.  Remington will not sell parts nor will most of their repair centers.  I 'm  glad someone has had good luck with their customer service and their products.  My experience has made me hate Remington with a passion.  I hope all of you continue to have good luck with Remington..... :D
