 In most cases it is not necessary to tear a gun down completly in order to clean it. I usuall just remove the grips and magazzine, slide the action back and lock it, then soak the gun in a automotive parts cleaning solvent. It may be necessary to take a horse hair brush and work on it some, but soaking over night, then blowing it out with air will usually leave the gun near spotless. Be sure to put a good coat of oil on afterwards.
