I bought mine used last spring.  It shot the Winchester black box ammo real good after the bore got used to the moly or whatever that black stuff is on the bullets.  That stuff is kinda spendy and I do reload so I'm shooting a max charge of Lil' Gun powder behind a 35 grain vmax.  Plenty accurate enough for prarie dogs.

Welcome to Graybeard Outdoors, Skwerlhunter!! The 22 Hornet is a real fun caliber in a Handi, I don't think I've ever read of one that didn't shoot great and mine is no exception, a 10 shot group at 100yd is less than 1" with most of em in half that using the 35gr Vmax and Lil'gun.

I love my hornet.  I have the std handi w/ the williams sight.  Only fired about 150 rounds through her so far.  I just measured a 4 "' 5 shot group 100y.  I know thats not moa...but its iron sights and it will do what I want, which is varmint, vermin and plinkin.  They are really neat and well balanced like all nef's.  A little expensive to shoot considering how addictive they are, so Ive got dies on order from Cabelas...kinda a must reload.

sorry for not chiming in sooner..

The 22 Hornet is fine short/mid range varmint gun.  If you aren't happy with it's performance, you can rechamber it for a number of other cartridges.
