Hi, any of you fellas have any experience with the mdm buckwacka, i have 50 cal, that i am having trouble getting it to group at 75 yds, best i can get is around 5 in with a few different bullets i had laying around the house, if any of you have gotten this rifle to shoot for them, i would like to hear what shot good for you.......thanks :evil:

I'll be watching this thread. I have a Buckwack, and never really got good accuracy with it. It has taken several deer, so minute of white-tail is do-able.

What loads have you tried?

I tried everything you could imagine, me and my dad. We bought them the same time. Mine was a little better than his. It was my conclusion that the barrels where out of spec. Very little resistance when loading sabots, and during a very cold December day my dads bullet fell out on his foot while we where talking beside each other, so I shot mine off to see If mine was ok. Nope mine was gone to. The only thing that did work was a trade in for an Omega that cuts bullet holes at 100 yrds, my dad choose a Black diamond 45 caliber, Which I might say is a good gun but my Omega still shoots better, and loads much better while in the field. Good luck. Oh the dealer told us that allot of other people where haveing issues as well. My Buckwacka shot very well at 50 yrds, other than that forget it. off the paper, on the paper, off the paper. Good by to a piece of junk. Now I'm happy, a few hundred dollars later, but happy.

You've got to be kidding??? It just fell out?
Reminds me of stories of Nat Foster, the infamous trapper of NY. Shot his loader with no patch. Powder and let the ball roll down the barrel and then shot. Killed lots of game but just nuts...I guess.

Everything I have heard about this gun has not been good! Horrible accuracy I have been told. Never personally owned one.

You can go here and ask about it. www.modernmuzzleloader.com They have a forum and I believe a few members have used them. Unfortunately I have only seen bad reports on that site also.

I've been very happy with mine. I got good accuracy with TC 240g mag express and better accuracy with TC 250g shockwaves, both over two 50g pyrodex pellets.

I couldn't get power belts to group at all though.

I put a little Leupold 1 X 4 on it and it will shoot under 2" at 100 yards all day long if I do my part.

It's never failed to go boom even in the worst weather that northern New England has to offer. I've shot several deer with it and the only thing I can say bad about it is that the trigger sucks.

I guess I'm in the minority but I really like mine.

On edit: I forgot to add that the tighter the sabot fit the better accuracy I got. Those shockwaves are a bear to load, but man they shoot.
