Stainless Contender barrel
« on: January 29, 2006, 05:24:55 AM »
I have a stainless barrel that is a matte finish. I have a few minor shinny
scratches. Is there anyway to blend these without having it reblasted?
If it has to be reblasted who can do this? It is a pretty fine matte finishes.

For touching up your matt-blasted finish, I would use fine (200-400 grit) emery cloth and gently tap it using a small hammer. The grit particles duplicate the original blasting effects, and a couple of minutes of this over the scuff marks and scratches will restore it's appearance.

Keep in mind that all blasting rounds off fine edges and markings, so stay away from details you want to keep.

This also works on guns that have smooth shiney spots from wear and rubbing against holsters, etc.

John this worked like a charm. The barrel looks almost like
new. I can't thank you enough. I didn't have 200 or 400 emery but I used
a worn out pcs of 120 and it worked great. I won't forget this trick. Thanks
again.
