Reloading 45-70 and 38-55; Help
« on: January 29, 2006, 10:40:01 AM »
I'm new to this forum, and just posted this on the reloading site.  However, maybe it should have gone here.  I just started loading and started with a Lee Classic Hand Loader in 45-70.  Using unfired Remington cases and Barnes 250 gr. X Bullet.  Having terrible time seating the bullet.  In coming up with 15 rounds I ruined 7 cases.  When I try to seat the bullet it will not fit into the case and bends the devil out of the cases.  What can I do to correct this?  Just after buying the 45-70 Buffalo Classic, I bought a Target Model 38-55 and ordered a Lee Hand Press to reload it.  Have ordered some 255 gr. Cast bullets in .379 diameter and worried I might have the same problem with those.  Bullets have not come in yet, but should be here in couple of days.  I've used the lube, but that does not seem to help.  I've read on here before joining several weeks ago how some had made tack drivers out of their 38-55 with .379 cast bullets so wondering if anyone else had this problem.  Thanks for any input.
