TC Contender SS Hunter 7-30 w/Burris 2X7 Posi-loc:Good Deal?
« on: March 17, 2003, 01:11:44 PM »
I've got to decide by Tuesday whether I am going to buy this gun or not.  So I thought I would ask your guys opinions.

TC SS Contender w/7-30 Hunter Barrel(muzzle brake) w/Silver Burris 2X7 Posi-loc scope.  Also, comes with a set of dies.

Picture below.

Out the door my price will be $530.

So is this a good deal?  How about the posi-loc Burris scope, I've heard some negative opinions of the posi-loc feature???  How hard is brass to find/form?

Look forward to your replies.

Steve

I'd jump on it!!!   Scope and dies alone (new) would run close to $300 depending on what brand of dies. That means your basically buying the frame and barrel for $230.00, not a bad deal at all. As far as the posi-lock. I have one on my 45-70 SSK 14" and it does stay where you leave set with posi-lock. I blew out the focus on mine. but point of impact was the same. Burris fixed it fast with no problems at all(2-weeks total time including shipping).

Steve,

I think it's overpriced. But the 7-30W is a great chambering for the Contender.

John,

Are you serious??  Got anything you'd like to spare for a new handgun hunter?

:D  buy it if it's what your looking for. don't if it's not exactly what you want. according to my calculations for used prices.
                                  $175- barrel and mount
                                  $225- frame
                                  $175- scope
                                  $15- dies
                                =$590 more or less.

new prices would be considerably more.
not a steal but about what it's worth in used condition.  :D
