For those of you who have bought a barrel or traded with someone else, do you send you barrels to the factory or take them to a gunsmith for fitting or is it usually possible to just put them on and shoot? Just curious.
thanks

Sometimes they will fit without any modification other times you will have to work with them to fit them properly..you can read how it's done in the FAQ's sticky near the top of this list.
Good Luck

You cannot send a used barrel for factory fitting. Larry

Larry,
I was told something different. H&R claimed for $20 they would try, but couldn't guarantee the barrel wouold fit. Of course, this was a barrel I'd bought directly from the factory, which I was trying to have fit to a different frame.
