pre 64 super grade model 70 .250-300

My father hunts with this rifle, it is very heavy, engraved, and worn but not damaged whatsoever. the serial # start with 44 i believe. I know the caliber is rare, and someone told me if it is winchester engraving it would be outragously pricey. How can you tell if it is and how much is the gun worht??? Anyone know?

Im sure a request to Winchester or the Museum in Cody Wy. with a check will get you a little closer answer, their is a charge to research the firearm but I dont know how much it is, and the condition of the weapon will also play a vary important rool in the value, good luck :D    JIM
