Which .22 Magnum would you buy......

A Marlin 925M for $164 or the NEF Ultra Varmint for $144. Both at Walmart.   Which SHOULD be more accurate out of the box? Thanks for your help!

Both should shoot about the same it depends on what you want .

I have the H&R 22 mag sportster and it shoots very well but if i buy another one it will be the Marlin just because it has a clip .


For the money you can;t go wrong either way  , i know this does not help much ,  8)

I will probably catch a lot of flack for this but for the money i would go with the 925M. :D

The 925M is highly regarded at RFC and for not much more money than the Sportster or Ultra. I was shooting next to a fella with a 925M at the range last trip, it was shooting ~1" groups at 100yds, can't ask for better than that from a 22mag!! :wink:

I ordered the H&R Ultra .22 Mag. When I looked close at the Marlin today I didn't like the way the extractors were made, looked sort of flimsy like spring metal. Walmart checked SportsSouth and they had only 1 H&R Ultra in stock so I ordered it. Hope I made the right decision. Thanks for your input.

Between the 2 guns there is no wrong choice , mine and my daughter's sportsters both shoot 1 inch or less at 100 yards so you will be very happy with it .

The Win. Supreme 34 gr. JHP and the Rem.33 gr. V-max are what ours like the best .

Way cool , Let us know how it shoots . Ours do the best with the Rem. Ballistic tip and the Fed. HPs are a close 2nd.  :D

I have got the 25mn. I will order a mag barrel for my Ultra when I send in for the ML and Shotgun barrels I want. Already have a 308 and .58 for deer but rifles are not legal in Il so MO,ID, IA, may be options.

Back when I got my NEF Ultra Varmint 22 mag they were out of them and I waited a long time to finally get one.

Here is a pic of a 2 shot group from mine.  I don't know why there is only 2 shots, been too long to remember.  Shot using the Dynapoints from 100 yards.

Might want to try the PMC Predators if you can find them! I have shot almost every kind of 22 mag ammo and they shoot the best. The 33 v-max aren't far behind, but the PMC's were better. might not shoot the best in your mag, but might be worth a try.
