« on: February 02, 2006, 05:46:57 AM »
What do you folks on the handgun hunting forum find to be your most accurate cast bullet?I am about to begin casting and I am looking at the Saeco swc gc 300 gr. and the Lee 300 gr. rf gc.
I want to begin with a mold capable of makeing a very accurate bullet.
Thanks for any input
Tom

UH ,is this for a 44 or 45grain bullet?  I gotta say this, the only 300 grain mold I use is for a 45-70 rifle I HAD one for 375 but it went with the gun! I shot a couple deer with 240- 250 grain 44 mag bulletsand was pleased with the results.Lee molds are notgoing to take the amount of use a Saeco will ,but I have more Lee's than any other brand. The fact they are so cheap(relatively) makes them so attractive. You aren't out much $ if the gun doesn't like that bullet. I have 3 .44 molds now and they weigh from 200 to 245. I wouldn't want to carry all the bullets I've cast with them at once. I'd go with a Lee till I got used to casting and know what the gun seems to like.  Besides ,if your like me you'll get several molds just because!!!

45 Redhawk, the most accurate cast bullet in my .45Cs is the LBT 300 LFN.  This shoots very well in all of them, from a 4 5/8" BH to a 16" M94.  It is also a good hunting bullet with a reasonably large meplat for killing power.  It works great at long range too, I used it in my 8" DW in IHMSA competition and did very well at the 200 meter ram line....  :D

I second the LBTs. 280g + 300g WFN both shoot tight from of 7.5'' rugers and 12'' contender. I think twist rate is 1:20 for both guns.
