I wasn't gonna weigh in on this, but after 3 pages I've gotten sorta caught up in it you might say.
Fortunately I have never been put in a position to use lethal force, but what I know from experience and training is that nothing you can carry is a 100% manstopper. All bets are off when the will to live and to kill are involved. It all comes down to "the fight in the dog"
This is all leading me to a story my teacher once told me. He was on a stakeout at a hotel, stationed outside the door. Suspect escalates and turns lobby into into a war zone. All shooting is at close range (4-10ft) The guy empties his gun and tries to run out the door. It is at this point that he receives two loads of 00 buck in the back (none sever the spinal column I guess). He proceeds out the door, still carrying open gun at his side, takes 5 or 6 more steps and looking at my friend says "you f-ing pussies had to shoot me in the back" and accordingly falls down dead.
I would agree that this man was dead on his feet, but he still had the presence of mind to hold onto his gun, walk, open a door, and speak. That's the story, if it came out of this mans mouth it is true and besides that, it is consistent with untold #'s of accounts on the miraculous resilience of the human body. If anything, this just confirms my belief that shooting or being shot by someone " just ain't too good"
Just my 2 cents worth, be healthy and be safe.
