Now I Know...They Buy Direct From Marlin!!
« on: February 05, 2006, 06:05:44 AM »
I just talked to a gunshop I heard about on this forum.  I always wondered how all these SPECIAL EDITION guns came to the dealers.  Well, now I know.  He told me they spec'd out what they wanted and ordered them DIRECT from Marlin.  He was also willing to give me a Head's Up on what he has coming in.  The price is even good.
Looks like I will be makin' a road trip in a few weeks to the Iron Range and check out some New stuff.  BTW, also found out that the Sweet 22Hornet w/Green Lams is still available from the other shop on The Range.  Looks like I will be workin' some OT for Gun Money.  LOL
Sorry, just got so excited that I just had to tell someone.

The shop must have been busy...I could hear the buzz of many customers in the background.  He didn't not have the list readily available, but he did say that he had an assortment of Handis and shotguns coming with the Lam Squire stocks and I specifically asked about those.  His prices on the shotguns will be around $140, he said.  That's pretty good, as it would cost over half that for a set of Lams from H&R after you add the shipping.  He also said they had ordered more for stock this year than in years past.  I guess they must be gaining popularity up there.  YIPPEE!!  I suppose it would be too much to hope for...a 12 or 20 w/vent rib, choke tubes and squire lams on a nickle frame.  Wouldn't that be sweet?  I really don't think so at that price, but maybe he did spec them with the NEW choke tube barrels that come stock with sythetic stocks...those are new for this year in the catalog.
Will just have to wait and see!

Hey, James B
The shop is Glens Army/Navy Store in Grand Rapids, MN.  It's over on the Iron Range.

Cookieman,

The place I buy all my H&R/NEF's belongs to this special "buyers group" along with other unafilliated dealers and that is where all these Limited Editions with the medallions in the stock come from. They order in mass, collectively as a group and get a good discount wich is passed on to us. They told me the name of the group, but my CRS has kicked in. I have a Ultra Slug Hunter LE that has the camo laminate stock with the medallion, but no checkering. It was $33 less than the Deluxe and I got them to throw in a $20 sling w/swivels to boot.
