Does the 30 mauser or 7,62 mauser or 7,63 mauser and 7,62x25 and 30 luger interchange is it all the same? If i purchased a 30 mauser broomhandle can i shot 7,62x25 out of it?

If so where can i get the larger mags for it?

The 30 Mauser, 7.62x25mm and 7.63mm Mauser are all interchangeable. Since you are going to be firing this ammo in an old Broomhandle Mauser, do not use surplus or mil-spec 7.62x25mm as you might run into old sub-gun ammo that will take that C-96 right apart, and probably part of your forehead in the process. S&B 7.62x25mm or Fiocchi 7.63mm Mauser is your best bet.

The 7.65mm cartridge you referred to is the 7.65mm Luger cartridge which is also called the 30 Luger. The case on this shell is shorter than that for the Broomhandle, probably around 21mm and the bore is .310 in contrast to the Mauser's which is .308. (You can shoot the 30 Luger through the 30 Mauser but it is like shooting a 308 from a 30-06 - all you wind up with is a straight cased empty. Anyhow, this is not recommended). The Mauser/Tok round takes a 85 grain bullet, the 30 Luger a 93 grain bullet. HTH. Mikey.

I'm really not sure how much i'll shoot it if i get it. Its a neat gun just to have.

Those Broomhandles are neat old guns. You either love them or hate them depending on how they feel in your hand. If you get that pistol, get a new spring set for it from Wolff and shoot it to your heart's content. Mikey.

A couple of years ago there was some M48 ammo brought into the country and it will fieldstrip your broomhandle for you permanently.
This is the ammo that the CZ52 pistols was actually designed to fire.
Physically it is the same 7.62x25 but it was loaded to a pressure level about 10 % higher. I bought bunches and it fires an 86 - 88 grain fmj
at over 1500 fps out of my CZ52. Recoil is substantially different
than from firing something like the ammo from S&B. Muzzle blast is terrible.

S. Sumner: You're absolutely right about that M48 ammo, it is made for sub-guns and is also the stuff the CZ-52s were designed to handle.

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe the S&B ammo is made to the original Tokarev specs, which pretty much match the C96 Mauser (Broomhandle) specs. The Broomhandle took an 88 gn bullet at 1400'/sec - the Tok commonly uses (and S&B loads) an 85 gn bullet to 1390'/sec. I recall the ballistics were developed in the Bolo Mauser with a 4" bbl, which would give you a hair more in the 5" bbl, and the Tok barrel is about the same length as the Bolo, so I would think they are literally one and the same.

I know the M48 stuff rocks my Tok, but the S&B shoots very nicely (unless you are standing close to it and not wearing ear protection). The Tok does have a 'bit of a report', doesn't it. Mikey.
