Some of you boys can come up with deals on a regular basis. My Bud just bought a custom 9X23 that should go for $2000. He got it for $900. A one hole shooter.
My deals seem to go in the opposite direction.
I have been around this place for longe than it says and I have seen some wonderful stuff happen for some of you guys, some, more often than others.
How do you get wind of these deals or how do you search them out.
Blessings

I dont let what the seller says abt. the value or emotion come into play I usually set a value in my mind and stick with it, I am also involved in a pawn shop and thats where the deals are at. :D    JIM

Don't feel bad I've missed out on deels that happened in my living room .

We had  some friends in to watch movies and during a movie a friend sold his Mossberg 12 ga pump for $ 50.00 ..... I missed the whole conversation until I heard " I'll take it" from someone of course then it was too late.

I'm more of a tragic figure in this regard. I buy when I identify a niche that I want to explore, then find what' available at that time. Fortunately that doesn't happen very often any more.

I've had a couple of "shoulda waited" experiences, one recently where I ordered a new Marvel conversion for a 1911 then found an ad posted at the range by a guy who has one for sale. Alas, it works that way sometimes.

I've also had a couple of "I shoulda rejected it" experiences where I acquired something I really don't need. Fortunately there are only a few of these.

These are the vicisitudes of gun buying.

:D Make every garage and estate sale/auction you can.  You will see a lot of stuff sell at twice it's value, but there will be some great deals along the way.  I recently picked up a Remington 1100, 20 gauge, a savage 110 7mm mag and a Ruger 10/22, all three for $360.  The 20 appeared to be a little rough, but cleaned up nice, the Ruger was unfired, new in the box, the savage is a clean gun and was topped with an old Weaver 4x scope.

I try to make the sales/auctions as often as I can, or when there is things that grab my attention.  It's almost like a treasure hunt.....

I find my best stuff through sheer...time...
Lots of it WASTED at gun shows, pawn shops, etc.
FOr time put in, they aren't really deals, when you count how many more hours I could have been getting overtime, hehe.
But it IS nice to score a good one.
Also, keep an eye on Wal-Mart, Academy and any other major retailer for clearance sales...
I picked up a savage rimfire for 75 bucks out the door once at a Wal-Mart clearance sale.

You have to find an older gentleman who is an avid gun collector and wait for him to die...Then you buy the guns from his widow at a reduced price...

That waiting for someone to die is a good one  ( If you can get my wife to sell you my stuff for what she THINKS I have in them you are going to get one heck of a deal ) :-D    JIM
