handloads for a ar
« on: February 07, 2006, 07:41:42 AM »
I got ym self a bushmaster 20 inch target and was wondering what others had for pet loads for their ar's. I have a bunch of 60 grain nosler partitions I loaded up 50 the other night with 26 grains of imr 4320. It was the only powder I had that would work course had to go to a old loading manual to find data with 4320. MV according to data is 2600fps we'll see what my chrono says. Any info would be great. Thanks

60gr Hornady sp
Imr 4895  25.1 grs
wsr  primer
o.a.l. 2.240
 Lee crimp die   light crimp

60 gr Hornady sp
h335  24.8 grs
wsr primer
o.a.l. 2.240
 Lee crimp die   light crimp

60gr Hornady sp
Imr 4064 24.2 grs
o.a.l. 2.250
 Lee crimp die  light crimp

50 Nosler Ball Tip
Varget     26.3 grs
CCI sr
o.a.l. 2.255
 Lee crimp die  light crimp

I would suggest highly to purchase a Lee crimp die, some would say it doesn't matter, but I've had a few bullets to push back,so I crimp all my ar-15 reloads!!!   It works on cannelure or non- cannelure bullets

 Hoped I've helped!!   Good Shooting

Thanks Slider

I have quite a few 50 grain ballistic tips and a large suppply of IMR3031 I just didn't know if the 1-9 twist would stablise the 50 grainers well the load with the 60gr. partition was very accurate with the 4320 I just picked up some hornady 69gr. hpbt.

Thanks again for the data, if I come up with some good ones I'll be sure to post them on here.
