New follower for Leverevolution ammo?
« on: February 07, 2006, 02:28:21 PM »
There was some discussion on one of the boards about replacing the magazine follower so the new Hornady ammo tips wouldn't pinch between the follower and tube.  I seem to remember that wasn't necessary for all models.  Anyone know if the 336SS in 35 rem needs a new follower?

I have been using it in my .35 rem 336 without a problem.  I cant remember where I read it or if a just dreamed it up but I think that I read that the new follower might only be needed in the larger calibers,(444,.45-70,.450) due to the angle that the cartridge loads in but I am not sure.

35 rem jammed
Took my 35 Rem out this week and loaded up the Leverevolution rounds. The cases would come down the magazine tube caused the action locked up.  Had to remove the lever, bolt and mag. tube spring to ge the ammo out.

Once I put everything back together, ccle the CoreLocks without any problems.

Back to the Remington Core Lock.

I heard about that problem too. Had to try quite a bit to duplicate it, but finally did. Seems the polymer tips on the Leverevolution bullets are getting stuck between the rim of the shell in front of them and the magazine tube causing jams. I have written to both Marlin and Hornady for a solution.
