rifle rest question??
« on: February 09, 2006, 04:09:21 PM »
I'm going to be buying a rifle rest for working reloads and target shooting. Not compitition. I want to know if rests like the lead sled that actually have a butt "stop",have any effect on accuracy. It seems like it would. I don't know. I also like the cabelas premier rest. It doesn't stop the recoil. The stock is supported in a way to alow the recoil to travel through the gun. I hope this question makes sence. I'm way open to suggestions. I just figure the rests that support the entire rifle would be the best for reload grouping. But again, I don't know. Educate me. Thanks...

The one piece rest are not the most accurate. None of the benchrest shooters that I am aware of use them. I believe Midway still has the Caldwell  Rock front rest on sell for 129.00 usually 169.00. This should serve your purpose well.
