Sprignfield XD
« on: February 10, 2006, 04:41:12 AM »
Hello all!  I was wondering what everyone thought of the Springfiled XD.  I was thinking of getting one of the 4" versions in 40 S&W for CC.  Are these pretty good pistols, are there problems that I should worry about, you know the common questions?  I haven't shot one, but I compared how it felt to a Glock, and the Xd felt much better to me.  Thanks for any info.
Aaron

You've been directed to the right place for info.

I love my XD-45 Service model. Only thing I don't like is that mine won't feed SWC's.  Other than that it's an awesome pistol.  Smooth action, nice trigger, and more accurate than I am.  All that in a 13+1 capacity, what more can you ask for.

Like it so much I just ordered an XD-45 Tactical, soon as I sell a couple revolvers I'll be looking for an XD in 9mm.

I bought an XD 40 about 3 years ago. I still have it nad carry it routinely in a CCW role. It is well made, acurate, and reliable. I have had zero problems with this pistol. I intend to buy a 45 ACP version.

I don't own one, but I would be shocked if anybody had anything bad to say about them. The folks I know who do own them say they are awesome. 8)
Ohhhh, I hate when that happens

Have heard lots of good reports on them. Hope they hold up, because springfields service sucks.

I just had the chance to shoot an XD .40S&W for the first time last week, and it was a good experience.  I like the way that the gun shoots, it's reliable (we put 200 rounds through it, no problems), and over all a good feeling gun.  I would recommend it.

I have not shot a Springfield XD yet but have handled them and they feel confortable in your hand.  I teach firearms at a local police academy and we have had several students recently who have fired them through the course.  They appear to be accurate, dependable service firearms.
Take care and keep you powder dry.  :D

Love my 3" sub-compact in 40S&W.  Even though it's small it handles great, especially with the large capacity clip (12+1).   The only thing that's hard for me is pulling the slide back, cold in the 3", springs are pretty strong, also the button to release the clip is hard to push compared to the Beretta 96 I have.
But it is a very comfortable pistol to shoot, even in 40 and it is very accurate for 3", every bit as accurate as my custom Beretta 96 in 40 S&W.

Only thing is, I can't wait for my new Dillon RL550B to show up.......... loading for half a dozen pistols is a chore......

Good Luck

a good friend of mine has the XD Tactical 5" in 9mm. Shoots like a dream. It's accurate, smooth and has yet to give him any major problems. He says he could take a full time job shooting it and not worry about the gun

Bought the XD9 when it was the HS2000.  Out the door price was $260.  It's fired well over 10,000 rounds and hasn't hiccuped yet.  I recently noticed the firing pin indicator in the back of the slide no longer appears when it is locked and loaded.  I'm thinking the slide needs a good cleaning.  I don't use it for CCW because I have a smaller Bersa Thunder .380 for that.
