Not happy with Rifle Basix trigger
« on: February 10, 2006, 09:09:33 AM »
I purchased a rifle basix trigger for my Marlin 917V.  I adjusted it to about 2.5lb pull put the whole thing back together and I can't get the darn bolt out.  I re-read the installation instructions and sure enough, it says that unless you adjust the trigger to less than 2lb you can not remove the bolt  :( I really do not like cleaning my guns from the muzzle but I guess I wil have to from now on unless I reduce the trigger pull to a point that I am not comfortable with.

put a .10 shim under the sear spring or increase the sear spring pressure, that may help.

The shim thing as described above worked for me many moons ago...
Also, if you don't want to mess with the rifle basix sear kit, you can always just replace the sear spring with a Pentech Mechanical Pencil spring (they happen to fit perfectly, well tried and true if you surf many of the marlin forums on the net)...ancient marlin trigger trick, works like a charm! It lowers the trigger a great amount, but not too much, and costs about......a buck fifty if you get one of the spendy mechanical pencils.
