On our way south we stopped in Lehi UT and visited the the new store.
It has to seen to be believed. A Zillion sqft of displays in a big building on a 1/2 section of land with parking enough for a small town..

I onlt have limited computer time so I better get off.

I've been to the store near Wheeling, WV.  Nice place, wish I had more time and money when I stopped.

Hi Fred!! :D  Cabelas bought land about 120 miles north of me with plans for a store, but I can order thru mail cheaper than the drive up and back plus paying sales tax, so they're being so close is gonna represent a dilemma for me!! :?

Cabela’s must be doing real well, thanks to people like us.  I wonder what the cost was of sending me their nice collectors edition catalog?  Hear they are building a new store in St. Louis MO area, can’t wait! :-)

That hard bound catalog is nice, but it's pretty much a waste on me, I looked thru the first one I got a few years ago, and haven't look in one since, but they keep sending them. I do all my ordering online.

We have one in Praire Du Chien, WI I find myself ordering more and more online as well, otherwise I am told I buy to much when I am at the store  :-D I did recieve one of them hard cover catolog last year to. Are people randomly picked to get those or do you get one because you reach a certain dollar level with cabelas?  I called Cabelas and got two different answears.

I don't know for sure, but I've spent $500-$2000 a year, sometimes more,  there for many years, just started getting the hard bound catalog a few years ago, so I have no idea what their criteria is.

I heard a rumor Cabelas was going to give LLBean some comp. here in Maine moving basically in there back yard. I hope so LLBeans has become a fashion house. There is really nothing there for a real sportsman.

Last year I had a dedicated N E  run and quite frequently would stop in Hamberg PA.  ( I would time the run to stop there for lunch )  I would spend 2 or 3 hours just looking around and shopping as well as having lunch in their 200 + upstairs cafeteria   . I love that bargain cave , but you have to be careful or you'll get burned  . They had an inventory reduction sale on one of the trips and there were several bargains there. The fine gun room , what can I say on hand to look at is antique colt's , to 29,000 winchester doubles, the gun selection is awsome , and if your looking at scopes or reloading equipment the selection can't be beat. They also have a great selection of Tc BARRELS and grip/foreend sets. Great place :D  Did I mention the wild game recipe smoked ostrich smoked bison, and others, used to get the bison burger it was great but they quit making that.

Well guys the store in Lehi is big in an expensive structure. Prices are so-so. When you go in there your money just leaves your pockets. I did not spend much time in the store since we had to do a LOT MORE TRAVELING.

We are just getting our bones warmed up in AZ. 80F is not hard to take.

A friend and I usually make it to the Hamburg, Pa. Cabelas about every other month.  They often have in-store discounts on reloading supplies and sometimes ammo.  It's about 2 1/2 hours away, but there are many decent gunshops on the way to check out.

Thanks

The fairly new store in Fort Worth is very nice to shop in also.  I am not so impressed with the prices there tho.  One can do better by going there and putting your hands on something to really see what you want and then order it online.  They have a section in all of the stores called the, "Bargain Cave", they have returned items there and the prices not bargain at all.  There are times when, "one just has to have it now", and I have to admit I am one of those too.  I know I will get some flames, but I have been in a couple of Gander Mt's here in Texas and price wise I think they are the cheaper.

Rumer has it that they are also planning to build one in Boise, Id.  The wife and I drove down and saw the one in Lehi last fall.  I'm glad for the experience to see a store like that and like a lot of you, left a good share of my money with them when I finally got out of there.  But also like a lot of you, I don't think they had too much that I couldn't buy on line or get from one of the local sporting outlets at a more reasonable price.
Thanks,
Trapper Jack

While I am anxious to visit the new Eastern Missouri store the only advantage I can see from the catalog or on line is being able to lay my hands on some or other gadget or goga and being able to see if it will really do what I want it to do.  If you are like me you probably have ordered something that looked like just the thing and been disappointed when it finally came.  While Cabala’s has a liberal return policy, going through the motions is still a pain in the…
