I am looking for information on just how dependable and fast the L and R Durrs Egg flintlock really is. I heard a lot of good about them. Any inputs from those of you that use one? You help is appreciated!

A friend has one on a custom Hawken, great lock, very fast with little tuning, easy on flints.

I have a left handed one that I built into a .50 cal long rifle. I can get upwards of 50 shots out of a good flint without knaping it. At one of the rendezvous one of the guys came up with a target where one of the rules was that the sights had to be on the bottom, in other words the rifle had to be up side down. It went off without a hitch. There were a half a dozen other flints on the shooting line and some of them took five or six attempts before they fired. By the way, I missed, but it wasn't the rifle's fault.

Norseman, I have two of the locks one in a fowler and the other in a English style target rifle. The lock is the fastest of all my locks and came with little or no work for tuning. The fly in the tumbler may need to be freed up a little and I use silver solder to get a perfect fit on the frizzen and pan. Both locks are very easy on flints and for good accuracys sake I nap my flints every 5 shots. Tryit.
