My first Mortar -- sort of
« on: February 15, 2006, 01:32:06 PM »
http://www.graybeardoutdoors.com/phpbb2/album_pic.php?pic_id=1158">

I just thought I'd share this picture with you all of my first mortar -- sort of -- ha, ha, ha! I've been wanting to build a mortar -- and here's my first attempt --  a snow mortar. We finally got some snow this year and I couldn't wait to see what it would look like to have one of these in my front yard. Later on I'll try to post a picture of my propane tank-to-be-mortar to show what little progress I've made so far.
Thanks George for the great detailed info on how to post pictures!!

Shades of Calvin and Hobbes.
I may not be completely sane, but at least I don't think I have the power to influence the weather.

entsminger,

:)  :)  :) !!! That's great! I bet the best part is that ammo is cheap and easy to make.... Also, be sure not to shoot it on sunny days.

Absolutely CLASSIC!

Let me look in my Almost complete cannoneer book for the recommended charge!  Was that with snow or ice balls?

Here's where you need an animated gif.  Light the charge, then show the mortar exploding and the shot just rolling out the muzzle.
