Hi I am new to the board but not to NEF.  I was woundering if any one has ever custom chambered one of these barrels.  My plan is to find a .17HMR barrel and rechamber it for a .17 MIV.  I talked to a guy that made a .17 hornet out of one and said it is quite the gun.  If anyone knows where I can pick up a barrel or has any suggestions it would be appericated.

Welcome aboard!! :D  There are a couple that have .17 Remingtons from the .17hmr barrel. I've done a .338-06 from a .25-06 Ultra barrel, a .405 Winchester on a .38-55 Target barrel, rechambered a .45-70 BC to .45-120 and am having a .357mag barrel rechambered to .35 Remington right now. A good gunsmith like Wayne York of Oregunsmithing who it familiar with H&R/NEF firearms goes a long ways to having a great shooting firearm. Barrels can be picked up in the NEF/H&R Classifiieds or on ebay quite regularly.

Thats a great idea stimpylu, I've been playing with thoughts of the same caliber for awhile myself.

I can't afford such a project at the moment, but it ain't gonna be far from actuality when I get a bit more financially settled.

I'd be interested in hearing more about it when you get a chance to shoot it.

Cheers
