Tasco Target Scopes
« on: February 16, 2006, 03:05:22 PM »
Does anyone have an info about these scopes?

I saw one at a gun shop and it looked pretty nice.  It was a 3x12x40 A/O.  It was as clear as I've seen in a Tasco scope of recent times.  On 12X it was as clear as on 3X.  The A/O worked well.  I could see no distortion, blurriness or fogging.

The employee showed me a description in a catalog and it is part of Tasco's Target/Varmint scope line.

I tried to do a search, but couldn't get the search feature to cooperate.

Thanks for any info.

I use a tasco 6 x24 -42 for testing loads off the bench,it seems to work well for me,although i have never tried it on a caliber with heavy recoil
the glass is clear and it does repeat,so for the money i think it is a good buy.

I had one of these scopes, it wasn't bad for the money, had a slight yellowish hue to the view, but was quite serviceable, I sold it to Mitchell, he's happy with it for the money. Here's a review on the Target/Varmint...he calls it a Varmint/Tactical, but the Target/Varmint is the only scope Tasco currently makes with a 42mm objective and mildot reticle. I would stay away from any Tasco scope not marked BPO. Prior to Bushnell Performance Optic's purchase of Tasco in 2002, they had questionable quality control.

A more expensive alternative with much better glass would be the Mueller Tactical 8.5-25x44...

Thanks for the reply's, guy's.  I found some info. listed on the Natchez site.  The scope is called a Mag IV.  Its not listed with the Target/Varmint scopes, but looks similar to them.  There's not really much information, but the description doesn't sound bad.  The shop I saw it at is selling it for $52.00.

I'll check to see if it was made since Bushnell took over.  If it is a Bushnell model, I may pick it up.  I've had very good luck with the inexpensive Bushnell scopes.

Thanks again,
