Since you know so much about the garands i have a question for you.

How many garands are unaccounted for? :-D

I wonder how many are sitting on the bottom of the ocean in the cargo ships that were sunk that were on there way to Europe? :D

Is this true? I heard there was a shooting match with garands and there were swiss rifles there and the swiss rifles were pulled off the firing line and inspected because there scores were so high? I guess they thought the guys with the swiss rifles were cheating but they weren't.

D Man,
As to how many are left there is no way to find out that data. Remember, the M1 Garand Rifle was built as a Combat Rifle. However, they are used in Match Shoots. 60 years ago no one thought that these rifles would become collectable as we have seen and records have been lost or destroyed over the years.
Sorry to say but if I don't have an Ordnance file or Order I don't post what I think happened but what the Ordnance file I have states.
