Longer Barrels?
« on: February 22, 2006, 07:12:11 AM »
Mac was talking about NEF/H&R might come out with longer barrels in the accessory program.
What has become of that?
Any word from NEF?

I would love a 26" or 28"
.308

.223 1:9" twist of course

.44mag tight bore and chamber  please

That would be a good start and I bet lots of other people would love longer barrels in their favorite caliber also.

The .223 already is available in 1:9", all 2006 production .223 barrels and late 2005 Fluted Ultras are 1:9".

..I still hope that it might one day come a reality. A 26" 30-06 or 26" Bull 308, heck even a 24" Bull 308 would be nice.
I just can't afford puting out the money for a Custom job from the Smithy or ..and I say this for me..can't spend that much on a Handi barrel. Though I am sure they are shooters.
I am grateful that we can get a 25-06 and 280 in 26" barrels.
The 280 is an extremely versitle round, so I guess in the long run I would prefer a 26" Bull 308 the most.
..Good thing no ones holding their breath, but lets keep it in mind. I am sure these barrels would sell. And this time, we are designating caliber and length.., so if anyones listening out there.. 8)  :agree:

No, unfortunately it's only in a 24" barrel at best. :(

OOOOh, I would love to get a 32" barrel in 30-06.  I know that's a long barrel, but think of the velocities that could be gotten with some of the slower burning powders.  In a Handi it would not be too long, about as long as my long action Parker Haile with it's 28" barrel.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.
