1891 Mauser Argo rifle
« on: February 22, 2006, 02:18:12 PM »
Hello,
I have a nice rifle made in Berlin in 1899,that had the crest polished off of the receiver. These were imported in the 1960's and all were of good quality.Mine looked "like new" when I bought it,and still looks 'very Good'
I see that 'Gun Broker.com' has one for $378.00.Could I get any where near that amount for mine?
Thanks,
Frank

The prices have gone up a little lately on the south american mausers.

Your talking about an 1891 Argentine mauser? Long rifle or short carbine?

If its in orginal condition and in very good to excellent condition even with the crest ground off which most of them are i have seen them going close to $250 to $350 long barrel.  I think the ARG engineering carbine maybe worth a little more.

Some of these shorter carbines are reworks from Ye Old gun shop in LA in the 60's they were long barreled rifles shortened to carbines and very similair to the ARG engineering carbine except for the swept back bent bolt thats the dead give away its a converted long mauser. Its worth much less maybe in the $125 to $200 range.

Thanks a lot.It's a rifle;complete with matching numbers,and in very good condition.
Would that figure that you gave be right for the North East.I live in New York State.
