k31 date of manafacture?
« on: February 22, 2006, 03:51:29 PM »
I am looking for the date of manufacture on my k31. I see a "50" on the tang. Is that it? Is one year better than another?
Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance.

Cheese Head go to the Swiss Rifles site.  http://www.swissrifles.com

there you will find every thing you want to know about your new rifle including the date codes using the serial numbers on the gun. Also if you take off the butt plate their maybe a card from the soldier that once used it. A plus some have it some do not. You will also see a date stamped on the butt stock under the butt plate this may corespond with the serial number date or it may not as they dated the stocks as they made them but may have a older  stock on a gun even though it is origional to the gun. My gun is like that my walnut stock is older than what my serial number the year my gun was made. I know my stock is origional as it is serial matched to the metal, but the date on the but shows it as made in a earlier year.
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.
